God Plan. Best Plan. (Ephesians 2:10)

Updated: May 10, 2021

Sermon on 2 May 2021 by Pastor Justin

Introduction

Today we build a church, his people. By dedicating, we give ourselves to God. The church is never meant to be bricks and stones, it is an assembly of God’s people. We have to come to the alter every day. This is a spiritual worship that is pleasing to the Lord.

We embark on a new series this month – the will of God.

Message

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10

God has prepared beforehand. God has a plan for you. It is important for us to know that He is almighty. Everything is in control. He has prepared everything in advance. Let us pray for direction every day. No one knows the future. It is therefore wise for us always seek Christ first before we take our next step. Let Him be at the beginning of everything.

1. The greatest honour and privilege for Christians is to do the will of God.

We are created in Christ Jesus for good works. We are all saved by grace through faith, by His glory. We are the new creation. We are no longer under damnation. In Christ, we walk in the Spirit, we are in the light and we are in the life. Jesus Christ is the life, the way, the truth.

Paul told the Ephesians to understand the will of God (Ephesians 5:17), and told the Colossians to ask God for complete knowledge of His will (Colossians 1:9). How do you understand and have knowledge of the will of God? With a sincere heart and renewed mind.

So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. – Colossians 1:9

The apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13 that love is patient. Your spiritual muscle is stretched when tested. When you are tested and produce patience, you have love. Because God is love. When you go through suffering, look to God, because God has a plan for you, and God’s plan is the best plan. He is omniscient. The world will pass, but those who do the will of God will abide forever.

And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. – 1 John 2:17

2. It is foolish to move into the future on our own when God is waiting to guide us.

Lean not on your own understanding. It is not wise to do things only depending on your intellect. We are to live by faith, not sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-8

This is what the Lord says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. - Jeremiah 17:5

Wait upon God to guide us. The faith needed today is for tomorrow. If you are strengthened in faith today, you will have faith for tomorrow. You will have faith for the next season. James tells us to submit to God. God’s plan is the best plan.

Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. - James 4:15-16

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. – John 4:34

3. Missing God’s perfect plan and will because of our disobedience

Let us learn from the lesson of the Israelites who had unbelief and disobedience, and therefore missed their blessings (1 Corinthians 10:1-12). Do not let disobedience block God’s plan. Also note that delayed obedience is disobedience.

Closing

We are all appointed to die once, followed by judgement. Let us live life to the fullest. Let us take action this day for salvation. Read the word, love more, forgive much. In faith, we stand. Real faith is trusting God’s timing and surrendering to God’s will. Trust in His plan for us.

And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. - 1 John 2:17

See then that you walk circumspectly not as fools but as wise, redeeming the timing, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. - Ephesians 5:15-17
