New Year, New Me (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Sermon on 1 January 2023 by Ps Justin

Introduction

As we enter the new year, all things are new. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. Your life will never be the same as you walk in faith and live in love.

Message

In 2023, God wants us to be reminded to be a faithful servant and steward to fulfil the word of God. It is all about trust and obedience. Colossians 1:25 tells us that we are ministers of God; ‘ministers’ means servants of God. And the word ‘steward’ means manager; we are to manage the resources entrusted to us. We are to manage the message of the gospel and the ministry God has entrusted us. To unlock the kingdom life, Jesus is the door to salvation.

The theme for 2023 is stewardship. The key to the kingdom of God is doing and serving through loving (1 Corinthians 4:1).

Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. – 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

A kingdom steward must be a believer. He has the responsibility and is accountable for managing and protecting time, talents and treasure faithfully and humbly, knowing God is the owner. Let us live by this principle in 2023. Then we will see the harvest of souls, spiritual growth and bear the fruits of the righteous (Proverbs 11:30).

Closing

2023 is a year of kingdom stewardship. Understand that God is the owner of everything, including our whole being. Be a faithful steward of God with the time, talents and treasure that God has given us!
