Not Ashamed of the Gospel (Romans 1:16)

Introduction

God wants us to live victoriously in Him. There is a hope that we have, only through Jesus Christ. We are saved through Christ. The gospel tells us this good news.

Message

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. - Romans 1:16

Why did the apostle Paul speak about this? There were probably people who are ashamed, who were afraid to share the gospel. Why? It could be because they did not quite believe in God; perhaps they did not have a relationship with God. They could be uncertain of the gospel. It could also be unpopular.

God has already given us salvation, but our journey of sanctification requires the power of God. The greatest miracle is that we overcome sin; we get the strength to overcome with the power of God. We must believe. There must be a sureness in our walk with God.

God gives salvation to everyone, not to a selected few. We should not be ashamed because God calls us to be of service to all.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” - Romans 1:17

There is nothing that we can do to buy our salvation. Righteousness is by faith.

And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith - Philippians 3:9

Closing

If we believe firmly in Christ, we will not be ashamed of the gospel. Let us preach the gospel, all for God’s glory.
