The Balance of Truth (Isaiah 30:21)

Sermon on 2 July 2023 by Pastor Justin

Introduction

You are to walk in full gospel truth in a straight line. Walk through the narrow gate. We as redeemed Christians should walk the road of holiness, the road of balanced truth.

Message

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left. - Isaiah 30:21

The redeemed shall walk the road of holiness, the road of balanced truth! (Isa 35:8-9). The apostle Paul preached this gospel truth. Never go to the right or to the left of the straight line of truth (Eph 1-6). The book of Ephesians teaches us what God has done for us (Eph 1-3), and what we must do for God (Eph 4-6). You have to walk in love, walk circumspectly, and walk carefully. And after everything, put on the armor of light, and stand.

When you walk in the straight line of the balanced truth, you will know the the balance between the following:

- Between faith and works

- Between worship and witness

- Between knowledge and the will of God

- Between love and hope

- Between words and prayer

The balanced truth will bring stability and unity of the faith. Are you spiritually balanced?

1. Perfect balance is God’s way

God’s way is always perfect. God is truth. God is love. He cannot lie. Love will not survive on lies. Love survives only on the foundation of the full gospel truth. God is always love and He is always truthful.

2. Perfect balance is what God expects from us

The Lord detests the use of dishonest scales, but he delights in accurate weights. - Proverbs 11:1

God’s truth is always balanced and this world is way out of balance. Balance the full gospel truth in walking, speaking and obeying (2 John 1:4; Eph 4:15; 1 Pet 1:22). The Father’s love for the Son is the same as the Son’s love for the believer. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 tells us about the importance of balanced truth.

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. - John 15:12

3. God sees imbalance as a problem

Having truth but without love is a big problem. A lack of balance of the full gospel truth resulted in our trusting our feelings for the truth. We may let our feelings be the authority, without checking on the bible. The balance of the full gospel truth in God’s word are reliable, trustworthy, and consistent (Isa 30:21).

Sit, walk and stand in the balance of the full gospel truth (Gal 1:10; 4:16). Without the balance of the truth, there will be no true love, grace, peace or faith (1 Tim 4:2). The entire balance of the full gospel truth is dependent on the Holy Spirit (Isa 30:21). The Holy Spirit gives us revelation. The Holy Spirit gives us power. The balance of truth is from the perspective of God and from His word. There is an urgent need in the Christiandom for the growth in the balance of the truth. God is able to do far more in us and through us than we can ask or think (Eph 3:20). Then we will have the power to “become imitators of God” (Eph 5:1; Luke 6:36).

Closing
